Alpine to Expand EV Lineup with Two Roadster Models by 2030

Alpine, Renault Group’s performance division, is committed to an all-electric future, planning to release two convertible models – a roadster version of the next-generation A110 and a drop-top variant of its upcoming GT fastback – by the end of the decade. This move aligns with the brand’s goal of launching seven electric-only vehicles by 2030.

Electric A110: The Next Chapter

The second-generation A110, slated for release next year, will transition from its current petrol engine to a fully electric powertrain. The car will be built on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP), offering both coupé and roadster body styles. The APP allows for innovative technologies like in-wheel motors – similar to those used in the Renault 5 Turbo 3E concept – though Alpine hasn’t confirmed if this feature will make it into production models.

A310 GT: A Four-Seater Roadster Option

Alongside the A110, Alpine is developing a fastback GT, rumored to be named the A310. This four-seater will also be available in both fixed-roof and convertible versions. The A310 is expected to share design cues with the new A110, moving away from retro aesthetics toward a more futuristic look inspired by the A390 crossover. Despite the design shift, it will maintain a similar size to the current petrol-powered model.

The Shift to Electric

Alpine’s UK general manager, Nicola Burnside, described the electric A110 as the beginning of a “next chapter” for the brand, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining the core identity of the A110 while embracing electric technology.

Alpine’s move to electric roadsters underscores a growing trend toward sustainable performance vehicles. By offering both a compact sports car and a larger GT in convertible form, Alpine aims to capture a broader segment of the EV market while retaining its reputation for driving excitement. The success of these models will depend on delivering not just zero-emission performance, but also the engaging driving experience Alpine enthusiasts expect.
