LDV Vans Recalled in Australia Over Unexpected Airbag Deployment Risk

20

Ateco Automotive, the Australian importer for LDV, is conducting a recall of both the diesel-powered Deliver 9 and the electric eDeliver 9 commercial vans. The issue stems from a manufacturing defect in the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) software, which has been calibrated with excessive sensitivity. This can cause driver, passenger, curtain, and side airbags to deploy unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion.

Potential Hazards

The recall notice explicitly states that unexpected airbag activation during driving significantly increases the risk of accidents, potentially leading to serious injury or death for vehicle occupants and other road users. This is because sudden deployment can startle drivers, causing loss of control, or obscure vision at critical moments.

Affected Vehicles & VIN Details

A total of 4,027 vehicles produced between 2024 and 2026 are affected. Owners can verify if their vehicle is included in the recall by checking the attached Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list. The original recall notice is also available for review.

Repair Process

If your vehicle is affected, Ateco advises scheduling a free repair appointment with an authorized LDV dealership. The correction involves recalibrating the ACU software to prevent unintended deployments.
