Hyundai has done it again. Or rather. The leasing companies have.
Today’s pick is the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Specifically, the Ultimate spec. Top of the food chain. All the toys inside. A proper premium saloon without the premium pain in the wallet.
£267.63 a month. That’s the number that matters.
It’s not just cheap because someone is selling a lemon. This is the Ultimate model. It’s from Auto Express’s Buy A Car service. Carwow Leasey is handling the paperwork. The contract is for three years.
Here’s the catch though. You hand over £3,506 up front. Ouch. Then you pay the monthly bit. Total cost comes to roughly £12,8k over the term. Mileage is capped at 5,000 per year. Five thousand. Do the maths. That’s less than 15 miles a day. Most people drive more to work alone.
Is it fair to say most people can’t do 15 miles a day?
You can adjust. Yes. Bump the mileage up to 8,000. Drop the upfront deposit to £2.2k. The monthly fee goes to £325. Still not bad. The total cost ticks up to £13,600. Not a huge jump for double the distance allowance.
Why care? Because it’s an electric car. Running costs are tiny.
Low running costs is the real headline.
Fill it up at home? Standard 10p off- peak rates. You spend less than £8. That’s nothing. Grid. Serve charging is 20% cheaper for you too. That’s included in this specific deal. You save over £10 on every rapid charge session when you are actually on the road.
Do you even need to charge it that much? Probably not. The WLTP range is 323 miles. Real world numbers will be lower obviously but the battery is massive. 77.4 kWh.
Speed matters less in a saloon but here it is anyway. 0-62 in 4.95 seconds. 325bhp. Dual motors. It moves. It zips.
The inside is where you notice the “Ultimate” label. Twin 12.3 screens dominate the dash. Leather everywhere. Seats that heat. Seats that cool. Seats that massage. Yes, actually massage. There is a sunroof. BOSE sound system. Digital door mirrors which are weirdly futuristic looking. Blind-spot monitoring and surround view cameras wrap it up. It feels expensive inside because it is loaded.
These deals don’t last forever. Stock shifts. Terms apply. Always read them. If this specific slot fills up or the expiry timer runs out, the Ioniq 6 isn’t disappearing entirely. Other leases exist. Better ones might show up next week. Or maybe you will have to pay more.
