European manufacturers such as Mercedes are working to change this. They adjust the system and implement visual cues, such as certain turquoise codes, to help drivers understand what the car is really doing in a traffic jam. This is an inevitable development.

ADAS False security

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) cover many areas. We’re talking about adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. The goal is safety. Reality is often dependent.

A Dutch study analyzed 28 different assistance systems to see what really happens on the road. The data is mixed. Conventional cruise control increases the risk of an accident by 12%. Why? Because the driver was too relaxed. They stop looking for sudden changes. Adaptive cruise control adjusts speed according to the flow of traffic and creates a dangerous illusion of safety. You trust the machine. Unable to react quickly enough to unexpected dangers. This delay can lead to loss of life.

It’s not all bad news. Lane Keeping Assistant reduced accidents by 19.1%. The fatigue detection system reduced this by 14%. These tools work when you want to keep you in your lane or awake. But there is little difference between “beneficial” and “dangerous”.

Car headlights: kill the killer

Modern cars turn on the lights automatically. It is very convenient. This is also a trap.

Many drivers rely on sensors to turn on their headlights when it’s raining or foggy. Sometimes the sensor can malfunction. Sometimes it’s too late. result? When you drive in the dark, the car thinks everything is normal. It is invisible to other drivers. The risk of an accident increases. You lose the habit of manually checking your controls. Technology dominates your everyday life until you forget about driving in the dark.

The problem of untrained drivers

This is a worrying fact. One study found that 70 percent of drivers regularly use assistance systems. 40% of them believe that these systems can compromise security. Most people figure it out on their own. There is no formal training. No formal training. Just trial and error.

You can’t rely on technology to make it perfect. it is not. It’s a tool. If you treat yourself like a coxswain who never makes a mistake, you are doomed to fail. The car knows what the sensors allow. You see everything else. Your car will not save you from satisfaction if you stop paying attention.

Where exactly is the line between assistance and automation? It changes every year. The risk remains until you learn to trust your eyes and not the dashboard.
